Summer Office Hours and New Student Registration
The Franklin Middle School main office will be open this summer from 9:00 AM –1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Summer office hours will begin on June 21. The office will be closed on Monday, July 5. Franklin MS Jumpstart 2021
Your student's transition to middle school is very important to us! This year we will be offering an OPTIONAL Jump Start program on August 5, 6 and 9 to our new students including Rising 7th graders, Rising 8th graders who were fully virtual during the 2020-2021 school year, and Rising 8th graders who are NEW to Franklin.
Rising 7th Grade Parent Virtual Coffee
We will have an opportunity to come together virtually on Wednesday, July 28 at 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The FMS leadership team will provide updated information about the start of the school year and will be available to answer your questions.
Student and Family Welcome and Orientation
Our school community will come together on Wednesday, August 18 to collectively welcome back the school year. This will be a time for students to tour the school, walk their schedule, and to reconnect with old and new friends.
Fairfax County Public Schools’ contract with Blackboard ends on June 30. The new learning management system is Schoology (pronounced /SKOO-luh-jee/). Schoology is a learning space that enhances communication, collaboration, and personalized learning for students, teachers, and families. Schoology will be used division-wide starting in July.
Required School Immunization Appointments Available
Documentation of immunization is required for students entering kindergarten, 7th grade, 12th grade, and for new students transferring into FCPS. Now is the time to schedule a free appointment through the Fairfax County Health Department for your child's immunizations.
No-Cost Summer Meals for Students
No cost summer meals for students available June 28 to August 5 at ten school sites and on 40 bus routes.
Virtual Mental Wellness Consultation
Any Fairfax County parent may schedule a 45-minute Virtual Mental Wellness Consultation this summer from June 28 through August 6. The consultation can take place by phone or video conferencing with a school psychologist or school social worker to get the support needed to help your child. There is no cost for this service.
Come Back for 5 Days
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is reaching out to parents, encouraging them to send their children back to in-person learning this fall. Take a look at images on banners, yard signs, and social media that highlight exceptional programs available to students as FCPS returns strong.
There is now a new Emergency Broadband Benefit available to eligible households through the Federal Communications Commission. This is a temporary benefit that will help to lower the cost of internet broadband service during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more.
COVID-19 Vaccinations Available for Ages 12 and Up
As our community strives to achieve herd immunity, vaccinating children ages 12 and up is a critical step towards achieving that goal and will help to keep our schools healthy places to learn. We encourage everyone 12 years of age and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Many locations offer same-day appointments, and some even have walk in availability. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or another adult at all community vaccination sites.
